Support Wal-Mart Workers Right to a Union at
Tuesday News Conference, Rally, Leafletting
Tuesday June 2, Noon at the Safeway Store,
4600 Cooper Lane, Landover Hills, Md.
Join community and labor leaders supporting Wal-Mart associates, who are trying to improve their lives by exercising their right to union representation, and their campaign to organize the giant retailer’s Washington, D.C., area stores.
Speakers will include Wal-Mart workers, union leaders and community activists as well as representatives of worker rights and other supportive groups.
After the event, Wal-Mart employees and other participants will pass out handbills informing community members of their struggle for a voice in the workplace, a living wage and affordable health benefits, and how the company is trying to deny them rights available to all workers under the law.
This is one of two dozen events being held around the country in support of Wal-Mart associates in advance of the company’s June 5, 2009, shareholders meeting.
